Students : Useful Guidelines for Student travellers

Is this your first trip abroad? To make your visit a successful and enjoyable experience, we have suggested some guidelines which you may find helpful.

 

Before travelling
Make sure you have all your documents

 

  • Passport and visa if needed
  • European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) for nationals of the European Economic Area (EEA) countries or Switzerland. This will allow you free or reduced cost medical treatment while in Malta should the need arise.
  • Travel insurance
  • Acceptance letter and details of your language school and accommodation.

 

During your stay in Malta

  • Always carry some means of identification
  • Carry the contact details and emergency number of your school with you at all times.
  • Exercise the same regard for personal safety as you would at home.
  • Keep your property in a safe place – do not leave bags unattended.
  • Help us keep Malta clean and recycle waste where possible.
  • Avoid causing disturbance between the hours of 23:00 and 06:00

Keeping out of trouble

  • Bars and clubs cannot accept patrons younger than 16 years of age.
  • Smoking is not allowed on buses and in public places.
  • Do not buy or consume alcohol if you are younger 18 years of age.
  • Possession of any illegal drugs/substances (eg. cannabis, ecstasy, LSD, amphetamines etc) during your stay in Malta, will result in immediate expatriation and/or legal action
  • We recommend that you do not drink alcohol on the streets.
  • It is illegal to carry any sort of weapon including knives.
     

While Malta is a very safe and friendly country being prepared with some useful tips should help to make your stay a pleasant one.
