Basic Requirements for Teachers of English as a Foreign Language
- Eighteen years of age
- EFL Teaching Permit issued by the EFL Monitoring Board of the Ministry of Education
- Advanced Level Certificate in English from a recognized institution, EFL Monitoring Board - English Examination or comparable qualifications
- A recognized induction course in the methodology of teaching English as a foreign language, approved by the Ministry of Education. (TEFL induction course)
- A clean police conduct certificate
Currently 11 FELTOM schools hold TEFL induction courses for teachers of English as a Foreign Language:
Teachers are encouraged to further their qualifications in the Teaching of English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) with qualifications such as those offered by the University of Cambridge Local Examination Syndicate (CELTA, DELTA), Trinity College London (Certificate and Diploma in TESOL), or a first degree or higher in TEFL from a recognized local or foreign university.
FELTOM English Language schools hold in-service development courses for their teachers to keep them up-to-date with advances in teaching methodology and materials.
FELTOM understands the importance of quality teaching staff. To assist schools in this area, train the trainer workshops are held from time to time for Directors of Studies and senior teachers. Such workshops are usually led by internationally renowned EFL experts.
